Trucker’s wife life

This is a blog for trucker’s wives, kindergarten teachers and authors! Everyone!

  • My new job at Ketron Elementary as a teaching assistant is very different from my Kindergarten teaching experience. I’m working with 5th grade now. The kids and teachers like me. The ELA teacher today had a meeting, so she let me teach her class while she was gone. I loved it. I am enjoying working with 5th graders. When RTI starts in September, I will be working with the upper level kids. We’ll be doing a book study of The Wizard of Oz. I’m very excited about it!

Mike has been gone a lot. We are struggling some financially, so he is taking more runs. He’s been gone for 2 weeks, so I’m very excited that he’ll be home this weekend. Since May, he’s been gone quite a bit. Right now he’s coming back from San Antonio. I’d love to go to San Antonio!

My birthday is September 22nd, the first day of fall. I’m sad because every year with my class I start telling them at the beginning of the year that the season changes on my birthday. Kindergarteners get so excited when their teacher has a birthday! I will miss all the sweet little notes and gifts this year.

Our anniversary is October 5th. Mike is taking a couple of days off so we can go riding in the mountains. We haven’t done that in a couple of years. Then, since I’m on fall break, I’m going on a run with him. We’ll see where that ends up being.

More later! Thanks for being part of my blog!!

  • Happy 2025 – 2026! I started a new job at a new school. I’ve been a teaching assistant at Ketron Elementary for 1 week. I’m getting used to it. Being an assistant is a lot different from teaching. I’m trying to convince myself that I need the break!

The teachers love me, according to the principal, who I know from years ago at Central Heights. She’s wonderful and I feel like my greatest chance at getting a teaching job will come through her. I’ve made a few student “friends” too. Some wonder when I’m not there at just the right time and ask why I won’t be there when I’m not. All good things!

So many, many things still weigh heavy on my mind. I know a lot of people are still praying for us and I appreciate that more than I can explain. I have friends who need prayer and God knows about their situations. I just feel weighed down at the moment by a lot of things.

I did get the chance to travel with Mike 1 week during the summer. We had a really good week. It was nice to be in the truck with him again. He’s not had much time at home this summer, so we enjoy every minute we get. My fall break starts with our anniversary, so, if we can’t take a little trip together as a vacation, I’ll travel with him in the truck again. We’ll see what October brings!

Thanks for being my people! More to come soon!

  • So many people have been praying for me and my family that it’s hard to keep everyone updated. I decided to use this blog as a way of letting everyone know what’s going on with everyone in my family.

Daniel is doing fairly well. He is having his medicine adjusted again, which always causes him some issues. Overall, he is doing much better! Thank you for your prayers.

Emmie is having a spinal tap next Wednesday. She is being treated for IIH, with medicine, and the spinal tap is to figure out why.

We found a house! (You already figured that out I’m sure!) We’re all moved in and loving the new place! We are still renting, but we have more room and are closer to my dad and sister.

I am still searching for a teaching job. Today I was offered a teaching assistant job with Sullivan County at Ketron Elementary.

There’s a short update! I cannot thank everyone enough for their prayers. Those prayers have truly carried us through these last few months!

  • It has been a while since I”ve posted on this blog. Life has been incredibly crazy. In my last post I mentioned we were having to move. The day after that post, I found out I was not going back to my Kindergarten job in the fall. So, now we had no house and I had no job. Panic has been real, especially the last two weeks of school.

I finished out the school year. I couldn’t leave my kids with two weeks left in the year. We had fun, did more crafts and just had a good time. I had to decide how and what to tell parents and teachers. I wrote a letter to the teachers and let them know I wouldn’t be returning. When they asked me, I told them why…that I was asked not to come back. I also told the parents the same thing when they asked. And I started applying for teaching jobs everywhere. So far, I’ve had one interview at Church HIll Elementary. I’m waiting to hear back about that.

We did find a house! It’s a little bigger than our other house and closer to my dad, brother, and sister. The house has a covered front porch, which I love. The floors are hardwood and there is so much room! We all love the house. We only have a few more things to get out of the old house, so we’ll be done by the end of the coming week.

I have not been able to go with my husband in the truck because of everything we’ve had going on with moving. For the most part, Emmie and I have done the moving. There were a few days that we had help from my sister, brother, son, husband, and a friend that is like an adopted son to me. I am hoping I get to go with him the week after July 4th.

So, more adventure news coming in the future. Hopefully soon!

  • It has been a while since I have posted. Things have been very busy and everything seems to be changing. We were told a week ago that we have to move out of our house. I moved in here in January 2012 after my divorce. My daughter was 7 and my son was 12. I love this little house. I have no idea how to even begin packing and saying goodbye to all of the memories we have here. This is truly one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.

Along with looking for a new place to live, the school year is winding down. There is so much to do to get ready for graduation! Also, I am having a small surgery on June 11th (if we can get moved by then). And, new curriculum for next school year.

I hope to post more frequently from here on out. I also hope to still get to go with my husband in the truck some this week but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to. We will see!

  • Hello! It’s been a minute since I’ve posted. School has been crazy. Really, everything has been crazy. The weather has been warmer than normal and I think the kids have spring fever! Concentration and focus have been out the window or some of them. My kids have been going through a lot at home too between medication changes and diagnosis of various kinds. It’s been a long couple of weeks!

I will be having surgery in June. Outpatient, minor surgery, but still alot happening. In the summer, I fall into a kind of funk. When I don’t have a class and school to go to, I tend to lose my purpose I guess you could say. So I made plans to keep myself busy this summer. I have started writing letters, penpals. There’s a Facebook group for people who want to become penpals. I joined and have received several letters. So that will keep me busy some.

I also have a new curriculum to learn for next school year. For the past several years I’ve not had curriculum.. I created a standards based curriculum map that I use in my class, but I find or create all the resources I use in my class. (Teacher’s pay teachers is a life saver!) The new curriculum my director ordered looks amazing and I can’t wait to learn more about it. I’ll be traveling with my husband as much as I can too. And learning to incorporate the smart board into my teaching more for next year too.

Every year I also do a virtual conference called Elevate. I’ll be doing that this summer as well. And I have an assistant next year in my class so I’ll be working with her to incorporate more crafts into our days.

So I think this summer I’ll be busy enough to not fall into that funk I’m normally in. I hope so anyway. More later!

  • It’s been a rough week! A friend told me yesterday people will let you down. That is so true! I know I let people down too. I try to say I’m sorry when I do. It’s so frustrating when a friend does it though. I’ve been a loner for the last few years. This is one of the reasons. Sorry for the sad post. Some days are just hard. Tomorrow is Friday!

  • Today was our first day back to school after Spring Break. I expected chaos, but we had a really good day. I am gearing up for new curriculum, a smart board and a full time assistant teacher in my room next school year. After Spring Break, the rest of the school year flies by. Not getting paid over the summer is hard, but this summer will definitely be busy for me. Now, the rest of the school year includes spring pictures, science fair, 2 more field trips, field day, and graduation. It’s going to be a crazy couple of months!

  • We ended our trip with several deliveries and pickups in North Carolina. We got home Friday morning around 11. We had a great trip and I’m looking forward to summer when I can go with him again. Between now and then, I’ll be posting about school and writing…..maybe some coloring! Here are some pictures I took on our trip. Happy Saturday!

  • We delivered in Orangeburg, South Carolina this morning. The GPS took up off the interstate and up some state highways and 2 lanes when we left Orangeburg headed to Haw River, North Carolina for our pickup. We had a beautiful, peaceful drive for the most part. So far this week we’ve traveled from Greeneville, Tennessee across Tennessee, part of Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Caroline, and North Carolina. We’ll be back in Greeneville tonight to pick up another load going to North Carolina for delivery tomorrow. More to come tomorrow! Happy Wednesday!!
